Superhero Party

This past weekend my nephew, Adler, had his 3rd birthday party.  It was a superhero theme and it was amazing!  My sister did an incredible job with decorations and activities to make each guest feel special.  It may seem a little out of control to you, but lets be honest, Pinterest makes us go a bit crazy in party planning.  I want to highlight some of my favorite things about the party:

Costumes:  Each child received a superhero cape and mask to wear to during the party.  They loved them and actually wore them the whole time.  Adler even wore a mask on his face the entire day.  

"Which Superhero are You" Game:  My sister printed descriptions of 25 superheros and made name tags using the superheros names.  The adults were to read some of the descriptions and decide which superhero best described them.  They were to wear the name tag during the party.

Cityscape Photo Booth:  A lady from my sisters work drew a cityscape for the party to use as a backdrop for a photo booth.  Everything was specific to Adler and their family.  Some examples are Simon and Bella's Pet Store are the names of their dogs, the clock says the time Adler was born, Cole's Candy Shop is their last name, etc. My sister, of course, had a Polaroid camera and took pictures of families when they arrived to the party.

Kids Activities:  She set up a superhero coloring wall and design your own superhero station in the basement for the kids to do.

It was a great party and celebration of Adler's life.  Good job, Brooke!

Baby, Baby.

Last weekend was the baby shower for one of my best friends, Courtney.  She's amazing in so many ways.  She is so compassionate for people, very generous, an extremely hard worker, loyal, and she is going to be an incredible Mom.  I can't wait to watch and learn from her.  The shower took place in Winona Lake at a place called "The Lodge".  The building was slightly outdated but the windows were awesome.  I didn't get as many pictures of the details as I would have liked but you'll get the general idea of the party.

The invitations and party schedules were printed on Trader Joe's bags.  On the back I printed "Handmade with 100% recycled material."  There were to be no "boring" shower games at Courtney's request.  She wanted it to be a casual party with family and friends.  Sometimes if there's nothing planned, showers can be boring if you don't know anyone.  I decided that I would plan some optional activities for people to participate in during the party.  I had three activity stations:  a station where guest could paint a wood block for the baby, a photo booth, and an advice station.  The advice stations consisted of envelopes numbered from one to eighteen and guests could write advice for a specific age and stick it in the appropriate envelope.

My co-planners for the shower made some awesome food.  We had a cheese plate with crackers and jam and cheese and chocolate fondue.  Of course we had some PBR on the table to go with the "Hipster" theme, wine and some all natural soda from Trader Joe's.
